There are two versions of Minecraft. They can be purchased separately and cannot be interchangeable. It can be difficult to decide which version is best for you. But we will make it simple.
The Java Edition is the original Minecraft version, which can be purchased through the Minecraft website. The Bedrock Edition is the version of Minecraft you can get on consoles and mobile devices as well as through the Microsoft Store.
You must get the same Minecraft version as your friends if you play Minecraft with them.
If you're the first in your clan to play the game or you intend to do some solo Minecraft, here are some things you should keep in mind before you decide which one to choose.
The Bedrock Edition has add-ons but it does not have more content. However, the Java version allows you to install mods (such texture packs) free of charge.
Java Edition is the best choice if you plan to modded your game extensively and don't want restrictions from Microsoft.
The Bedrock Edition supports cross-platform multiplayer across consoles, mobile devices, Windows 10, and Windows 10. Java Edition is limited to PC users and will not allow you to play with Java players.
Keep in mind that the Bedrock Edition will not be available on all platforms. You'll need to repurchase it on each platform. However, add-ons such as texture packs and texture packs can be purchased on other platforms.
Both Hardcore mode, which prevents you from respawning after you die, and Spectator Mode (which allows you to fly around and see the world), are only available in the Java Edition.
The Bedrock Edition of Minecraft is recommended for casual gamers. It is easier to use and more stable than the Java Edition. You can also play on other platforms which is a great advantage.
Java Edition is a better option if you are a more dedicated Minecraft player who enjoys tinkering and seeing in-development features ahead of most players.
